Jago and Litefoot on the outside of the law since the last series ,would seem to have their luck run out. In the final moments of the last adventure they’d been arrested by inspector Abberline. However it seems that rather than be inprisoned their help is needed. Jack the Ripper has escaped, and once and Jago and Ltefoot are on the case.

With new murders and two women being from Jago own theatre, things are a bit close to home. 

Ellie is  present I this and very much welcome. 

With the title Wax Princess, there are hints of the House of Wax, so if you know you know and if you don’t: well then it’ll be a nice surprise. As for Jack the Ripper? Its an hour long episode and it’s all wrapped up by the end so its doesn’t take a lot to find him.

There are some nice moments, and with the J&L series, bits of comedy. Some of the plot points you can see coming, perhaps not quite as you expect, but at time its glaringly obvious. With the inclusion of Queen Victoria, again you can see where its heading - the fact that J&L are on the run from attempting to kill her are now going to stop that from happening.

All said and done a fine episode and ticks all the boxes.

The Iron Maid The Companion Chronicles 12.3 14th  century and a church in France is where The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe find themselves… I’m writing this more fro completion that anything else. I have been struggling with audios lately, just not being able to get into them. This just didn’t engage me, its a bit slow, I should probably give it another go but I don’t really see much reason. Though this is a Zoe/Wendy Padbury story Frazer Hines also features playing Jamie and the second Doctor. There is a scene where Wendy does narrate instead which felt a little odd, the audio doesn’t make the best use of Frazer. The plot itself is about relics from a war, but a war in the future. Its not a bad premise, but the style of the audio isn’t one that excites me.

The Lumiat                                         Missy 2.1                          Missy, up to her old tricks of stirring up the red and the black ants. Only this time its people. All going well (or bad depending on your viewpoint) until a timelady appears, it has to be the Doctor doesn’t it? Who else could it be? I listened to this twice - a couple of months apart. The first time I felt it was OK, but seeing the reviews and it having been rated quite highly, I thought perhaps I’d missed something. The Lumiat: she’s has been in a couple of other audios (Masterful and Timelord Immemorial)  - both of which I’ve heard but in the wrong order. Gina Mckee pays the Lumiat, for me always remembered for being on the Lenny Henry show. I don't really remember much about her from those audios though. With the Lumiat showing up ...
