The War That Never Was
Timeslip
It does help to remember where things were at the end of the Age Of The Death Lottery, having escaped the future where the death lottery was in place, Charlotte and Neil passed though the barrier before the rest. When they do catch up with Charlotte it seems a few years have gone by.
The UK of this alternative post war world is quite different. Now part of the united states, the war having lasted longer, the barrier is known about and studied. The interesting thing is they have mobile phones, and trade with other times using the barrier, and Charlotte is at the centre of it, living up to the reputation she gained as her future self.
Simon taking time out to see where his grandparents lived felt a little odd, and his concern about whether he still exists if they were killed in this version. Even one of the other characters tells him he’s still here.
My only real issue with this story is that while it was interesting I didn’t get a sense of a definative plot. The reveals about this timeline comes in bits and it nice to be able to build up a picture of how events have shaped this reality. Importing stuff from other times and the information on the barrier is good but they weren’t explored as much as I’d of liked.
As with the first its 6x30 minute episodes. And though I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first story I’ve already bought the nest release.
