The Killing Jar
Star Cops Mother Earth 2.2
Nathan, Kenzy and Paul head to the Charlie Chaplin, a repurposed space station, now used for space tourism. Its owner, known to Kenzy, is suspected of cutting corners and endangering lives.
Their contact on the Charlie Chaplin seems to be missing and a journalist also is interested in finding him. When his body is seen floating out of an air lock its just the beginning of the Star Cops troubles.
Its a reasonable enough adventure and has all the usual trapping of a Star Cops story. Priya not having much of an appearance and Devis in a reduced role, leaves Nathan, Kenzy and Paul doing the heavy lifting. Its soon apparent that the body in space and door panels that are electrocuting people are part of a plot and Mother Earth maybe responsible.
This story does everything right, but I find that its not sticking out much in my mind. The reasoning and deduction as to whose responsible is nicely done. The fact that the station might get destroyed with the Star Cops and passengers on board, is tense enough. Nathan discovering someone’s been recording him and putting it out on the news aswell as one or two other details are all serve to make a good audio. Maybe its that none of it is all that original.
Its nice enough, but I wasn’t as gripped as much and I’d like to have been.
